April 22 Centricity Webinar: Realising Customer Value

Are You a Reactive or Proactive Business Analyst?

The Business Analyst is good at asking questions and recording information. They consolidate that information and present it accordingly. But that’s where their value stops. A business can’t take what a Business Analyst produces and make meaningful decisions. Some in the industry think the profession of Business Analyst is disappearing in the Agile world.

But smart Business Analysts have a plan. Smart Business Analysts are looking to develop into Product Owners.

Product Owners have the skill set required for the Agile world. They still collect requirements, for sure however they see the bigger picture. Product Owners are responsible for creating, maintaining and communicating the vision. They are more strategic and know what brings value. Product Owners go beyond just replicating the existing business into a new system, they put the pro in proactive looking at both current and emerging needs. They prioritise what and when it’s needed progressing urgent needs and planning for others down the track. More importantly, Product Owners know their technologies and know what is needed above and beyond what its users believe or think they need.

To find out more about this vision, and how to create it, we interview Graeme Jeffrey Boorer and discover:

  • How the Business Analyst and Product Owner roles are evolving

  • The pros and cons of both roles

  • How to tell if you’re reactive or proactive
